Kayak Kamp 2016 Day 2

We began our day today with Ms. Christina teaching the Bible lesson abou how we are damaged by evil through sin. Yesterday we saw that God created everything Good - We were designed for good but damaged by evil. We see that evil in all of the brokenness in our world, in people and also in creation. Our stewardship lesson was to care for God's creation and not to pollute.

We began our morning at the Great Falls National Park. Ranger Ilyse Goldman spoke to us about the importance of the Passaic River and Falls in Paterson's History. Pastor Sham introduced us to some of his Youth Corps workers who are helping to take care of the National Park.
We launched today in the Passaic River at the Hawthorne launch paddling a ways upstream before turning downstream. The river is still higher than usual from the rain a few weeks ago and we enjoyed the current.

Practicing our paddling strokes

We paddled over the Fish Wier just above the Fair Lawn Ave. Bridge. Here is a link to an article about the Paterson-Fair Lawn Fish Weir
We stopped at our home launch in Elmwood Park and proceeded on after lunch to Ricks Island

Rick's Island is a Passaic River destination. Thanks "RiverMan"

We concluded our day at Paterson's best kept secret and best Ice Cream - Guernsey Crest
